Puppy/Kitten Care

Dependable Full Service Puppy & Kitten Wellness Care

In infancy stages, animals have underdeveloped immune systems and are therefore highly susceptible to health problems. Puppies and kittens require initial vaccinations to protect them from the many life threatening diseases lurking in all corners. We administer both vital and lifestyle vaccines. Lifestyle vaccines are dependent upon environment; will your pet live indoors or outdoors?

Common Kitten Vaccinations

  • Feline distemper
  • Feline calici virus
  • Feline herpes virus type I
  • Rabies
  • Feline leukemia virus
  • Feline immunodeficiency virus
  • Chylamydophila felis

Common Puppy Vaccinations

  • Canine parvovirus
  • Canine distemper
  • Canine hepatitis
  • Rabies
  • Bordetella bronchiseptica
  • Borrelia burgdorferi
  • Leptospira bacteria

In addition to setting up an essential pet vaccination plan, we recommend scheduling an appointment with us to help familiarize yourself with the special needs of your new puppy or kitten. During this visit, we will examine your pet as well as provide you with imperative knowledge regarding nutritional counseling, training tips, grooming needs (we do offer baths, nail trims, ear cleanings, and anal gland expressions), and other relative veterinary advice. You will also leave with a puppy or kitten care package containing pet care informational and educational brochures, heartworm medication, flea control, a sample of recommended healthy animal treats, and even a leash for new puppy owners.

Animal behavioral counseling is yet another option you may want to consider. Call us to set up an appointment if you feel your pet may have separation anxiety, storm phobia, or other behavioral concerns. Although obedience classes are not offered at Haines Road Animal Hospital, we can refer you to highly skilled trainers in the Pinellas County, FL area after proper evaluation of your pet.
